Coyote’s Corey Klujsza Named a 2024 Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive
Heading into a pivotal year for North American supply chains, a major industry publication has singled out Corey Klujsza, VP of Pricing & Procurement Strategy, as a notable strategist and freight market thought leader.
Corey has been recognized as a 2024 Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE). For the first time, SDCE’s Pros to Know were broken down into four categories to highlight their specific contributions to our far-reaching industry. Corey was nominated and won in the “Top Procurement Pros” category, which “Recognizes professionals in the procurement space, with a procurement title.”
“Thank you to Supply & Demand Chain Executive for this tremendous honor,” said Corey. “It’s a testament to the hard work of the talented team who generates and analyzes our freight market data, and it wouldn’t be possible without the trust Coyote places in myself and my team to represent our expertise publicly.”
Standing Out as a Freight Market Thought Leader
You might recognize Corey from his regular appearances in our Supply Chain Master Series freight market forecast webinars. His success in this public-facing role is a major reason Corey stands out among his peers.
Each quarter, Corey collaborates with our pricing, market intelligence and research teams to publish the latest version of our Coyote Curve® truckload spot rate index. These updates use our extensive rate data from the previous quarter, industry sources like the Cass Linehaul Index, and economic indicators such as inventory to sales ratio and new Class 8 truck builds to project how supply and demand in the truckload market will influence rate inflation or deflation in the coming months.
He then distills insights from the published market updates into points for discussion with other Coyote leaders and external industry analysts in the freight market forecast webinars. Synthesizing data for discussion isn’t easy for a topic as complex as the freight market, but Corey helps curate clear and actionable insights that equip shippers and carriers with the tools for better decision-making.
Supply chain professionals follow updates in both formats closely — the Coyote Curve posts to our Resource Center were viewed more than 54,000 times in 2023, and more than 3,000 viewers tuned into his forecast webinars.
“Maintaining an open dialogue is vitally important for supply chain professionals,” Corey said. “The uncertainty and volatility in this industry remain extremely difficult to navigate and seemingly always will. We’re all in this together, and I’m proud that I can help advance the industry by publicly sharing data and insights that hopefully bring some transparency to decision-making and overall strategy.”
Setting Successful Internal Strategy
While Corey’s thought leadership deservedly gets much of the attention, his work behind the scenes has also helped prepare Coyote for success in an ever-changing freight market.
Along with other pricing and market intelligence team members, Corey has helped create pricing and procurement capabilities that dynamically respond to market conditions and help us maintain high levels of service. These initiatives create price flexibility that promotes tender acceptance among the carriers in our network, which in turn helps us offer consistent dedicated service to shippers.
He also contributed to the development of a sophisticated, automated tender management system that allows us to stay up-to-the-minute with changes in the market, and rapidly offer additional volume to carriers when it becomes available.
These strategic initiatives show the powerful mix that makes Corey truly stand out among his peers — fluency in the data that powers modern logistics paired with a deep understanding of the relationships that have always kept supply chains running.
