Statement on Coyote Supporting UPS Peak

Coyote will continue to support UPS with our Peak solutions through the acquisition process and after the pending deal is complete. Payment processes and operations will remain unchanged this year. For more information about the acquisition, please view the press release.

The holiday retail season means more revenue opportunities for you.

In addition to Coyote’s normal network freight volume, we also support UPS Peak Season during their busiest time of year. And to help them move hundreds of additional holiday loads daily, we rely on carriers like you to get the job done.

Working with Coyote to support UPS Peak Season freight volume is a great way to grow your business. See how M&I Truckers grew its fleet from one to 17 trucks by leveraging high-volume seasonal freight.

Beyond normal freight, [my Coyote rep] Brandon connected me with an opportunity to move UPS trailers, and that’s been a huge growth opportunity. Since then, I’ve really enjoyed supporting UPS’s Peak Season needs…I’ve moved as many as 800 trailer loads in a month through Coyote before. You have also helped me keep my drivers closer to home and minimize risks on the road.”

– Marluh Izaguirre, Owner, M&I Truckers, 17 trucks

Types of Peak Season Opportunities

Overview of Local

Every year there are two types of local opportunities: Local (LCD) and Local-Regional (LCL).

Local schedules are distributed daily and will vary between LCD and LCL based on real-time UPS needs. All local drivers must be prepared to run both types (LCD and LCL details below).

Here are the basics for all local opportunities:

  • All opportunities require single, power only drivers.
  • Drivers must arrive with fresh Hours of Service (HOS) and be prepared to run straight through.
  • Drivers must be enabled for real-time digital tracking (Vector).
  • Drivers will end their HOS back at their origin point, regardless of work type.
  • Though not required for all loads, T Endorsements, HUT Stickers and UIIA Certifications are all beneficial.
  • 75% of UPS work is in the late afternoon or evening.

Local: LCD

  • Schedule: Daily, 10-hour shift
  • Pay Type: Flat rate per day (per driver)
  • Work Type: Multiple local shuttle runs between UPS hubs, customers and railroad ramps

Local-Regional: LCL

  • Schedule: Daily, typically 400+ miles (all drivers will return to origin within HOS)
  • Pay Type: Daily flat rate or per mile — whichever is greater per shift
  • Work Type: Multi-stop, regional runs between UPS hubs, customers and railroad ramps

Expedited

Expedited Peak Season freight involves longer-haul transfers and has slightly different requirements than Local freight.

Here are the basic details for Expedited:

  • There are opportunities for both single drivers and driver teams.
  • Driver teams typically run ~5,000 miles a week, while single drivers run ~2,500.
  • Carriers must have 24/7 dispatch.
  • Drivers must download project44, ProjectView and CoyoteGO® apps.
  • Pay Type: Per mile rate, based on total miles moved per route.
  • Work Type: Drop and hook, multi-leg runs between UPS hubs and customer facilities.
